April 15th – 17th, St. Paul, Minnesota.
RKC Team Leader Phil Ross trained his First Team of RKC hopefuls at the recent Russian Kettlebell Challenge (RKC) Certification. There were over 100 participants trained by the 7 Team Leaders and their assistants over the 3 day ordeal. Phil Ross, along with his two assistants, Michael Rendle and Leslie Branham trained and tested the 13 candidates in Level Techniques and teaching skills required by the RKC in order to be qualified to train people in the Russian Hard Style of Kettlebell training.
The RKC is the Gold Standard in Kettlebell Training worldwide. The system was developed by the World’s foremost authority on the Kettlebell – Pavel Tsatsouline.
The Candidates are trained and tested all weekend long. They have to pass several tests of strength, endurance, technique and teaching ability. They must perform 100 Kettlebell Snatches within 5 minutes, 24KG (53 lbs) for men and 16KG (35lbs) for the women. There is a technique test using two of the aforementioned sized kettlebells on the core kettlebell movements: Swing, Front Squat, Press, Clean and single bells are used for the Snatch and Get-up. The candidates also have to train a group of volunteer “victims” of varying levels of experience.
